A Kiln Conversion Workshop with Jared Zehmer

Event Description

Each Participant will be learning every part of the process of converting an electric kiln to a gas reduction soda kiln. 

Day 1: The kiln conversion process - building the burner system, stripping the kiln of its electrical components, and loading the kiln. 

Day 2: Firing the Kiln - participants will be monitoring the firing process and recording notes and information in log books.

Day 3: Unloading the kiln and observing the work.

Cost of the 3-day workshop is $400. and includes individual packets with parts list, assembly diagrams and firing instructions, a firing log book, lunches on Friday and Saturday, and snacks throughout the workshop days. Participants are encouraged to bring small bisqued and glazed pots to include in the firing. 

The workshop will take place in Goshen IN at the home studio of Betsy Poling and Chuck Long.
