Figuring Out

Event Description

We will work with stoneware clay and use coil building and other hand-building techniques to construct sculptures combining multiple figures or objects. We will work with form and surface to create narratives and discuss anatomy, proportion, posture, and gesture. Facial features, hands, feet, and clothing will be added to animate the figures. Surfaces can be enhanced by texturing and detailing. We will explore glazes with test tiles in an electric firing. Basic handbuilding experience will be helpful, but this workshop is open to all levels.
