Event Description

Justin Rothshank will be sharing about his experiences with low-fire soda firings, offering attendees the opportunity to see his kiln in action and use his glazes to decorate pieces. Attendees will see how to load the kiln on Friday night, fire it and spray soda Saturday morning, and unload on Sunday afternoon.

Jesse Woodworth will open his studio for this workshop on Saturday, showcasing his decal workflow and providing attendees with the opportunity to apply their own custom decals to pots. These wares will be fired overnight and returned on Sunday.

Dick Lehman has traveled extensively over his 50+ year career in clay, exploring different firing methods, while also conducting his own research into complex glazing strategies. Dick will open his studio to workshop attendees for a presentation on his Oni Glazing philosophy, sharing about his career as a production and retail ceramic artist, and a Q&A session.

The Spring Surfaces Workshop includes two kiln firings, materials, and glazes. Lodging and food not included. Attendees should plan to bring 15 mug-sized pieces.
