Great glaze combos to try out in 2026

Welcome to 2026: let’s find some great combinations for you to try out in the new year! Maybe you have some of these glazes and don’t know what to do with them, or maybe you just want to try something new. Let’s break it down into some categories for you to try out!

If you want wild, runny combinations that make everyone say, "Wow!"...

We made these samples by applying the bottom glaze all over, then just applying the top glaze in a narrow stripe near the rim to give them room to move. We used sample cups with a strong horizontal texture to slow down the flow, and smooth cups to show how they move.

Green Milk Glass

Soft pale aqua of Textured Turquoise flowing over the creamy milk glass of Moon River is perfect for textured pieces that need some drama! 2 coats PC-25 Textured Turquoise over 2 coats PC-19 Moon River, cone 6

Electric Storm

She’s a runner! Lapis Flow is a dramatic fluid indigo over Textured Turquoise. Be careful, these are both fluid glazes, so you want to use them where they won’t flow onto your kiln shelf! 2 coats PC-14 Lapis Flow over 2 coats PC-25 Textured Turquoise, fired to cone 6 on A-Mix White Stoneware

Ancient Oribe

Ancient Jasper creates an almost metallic luster when applied over Satin Oribe. The contrast between the deep bronze of Ancient Jasper and the satiny coolness of Satin Oribe is eye-catching! 2 coats PC-53 Ancient Jasper over 2 coats PC-15 Satin Oribe, cone 6, A-Mix White Stoneware

If you want a bright POP of color...

Citrus Fruit

This combination creates a very subtle visual texture on a vivid chartreuse surface. Try Crawls on any Celadon glaze for a dramatic pairing that’s good for functional ware while being bold and exciting. 2 coats CR-41 Lime over 3 coats CR-41 Pear, cone 6 on A-Mix White Stoneware

Whitecaps

This combination is like whitecaps on a Caribbean sea. Snow floats lightly over the deep intensity of Teal Drift. C-10 Snow in a drizzled line over 2 coats PG-42 Teal Drift, cone 6, A- Mix White Stoneware

If you want subtle, sophisticated combinations ...

Pink Marble

Soft powder pink on palest gray gives a serene and gentle vibe. This cup wears 3 coats PCF-54 Flux Blossom inside and over the lip, slightly overlapping 3 coats SM-3 Marble Satin Matte. Cone 6, A-Mix White Stoneware.

Gray Web

This combination creates a lovely visual texture in an unexpected color. We brushed 2 coats of PC-32 Albany Slip Brown over a single dip of DL-1 Ebony for this mysterious look. Cone 6.

A combination that won’t run onto your kiln shelf...

Toasted Cloud

Toasted Sage layered over a Celadon creates a cloud of soft gray shading to taupe where it’s thinner. Apply in “drips” as we did here to give the appearance of runniness without risk to your kiln shelf. 2 coats PC-34 Toasted Sage over 2 coats C-29 Deep Sea. Cone 6, A-Mix White Stoneware.

A combination that is cozy and earthy ...

Candlelight

Warm and cozy, this combination will warm you up. 2 coats PC-19 Moon River over 2 coats Sh-12 Chai Matte Shino. Cone 6, A-Mix White Stoneware

For something different ...

Crack Stone

Buttery smooth Satin Matte meets the visual texture of Crawls, creating a visual texture reminiscent of polished stone. 2 coats CR-12 Speckled White Crawl over 2 coats SM-2 Stone. Cone 6, A-Mix White Stoneware.
