Spring Glaze Combinations!
Springtime always makes me feel like getting out in the fresh air and enjoying the plants awakening. To celebrate the changing season, we have a bouquet of lovely glaze combinations.
Rose Petal
Lovely pinks combine to create this lovely heirloom rose-looking glaze. We applied 2 coats of PC-55 Chun Plum over 2 coats of PCF-54 Flux Blossom on this A-Mix White Stoneware cup and fired it to cone 6.
Green Growth
Like budding plants, this combo is bright and tender. We applied 2 coats of PC-46 Lustrous Jade over 2 coats of C-42 Saguaro to this A-Mix White Stoneware cup and fired it to cone 6.
Lavender Flowers
Delicately colored, we love this combination of Honey Flux with Celadon. We applied 2 coats of PC-17 Honey Flux over 3 coats of C-56 Lavender to this A-Mix White Stoneware cup and fired it to cone 5. Lavender can turn blue if fired above cone 6.
Lemon Yellow
Don’t forget that several Amaco glazes lines are mixable! We created this lemony-yellow by mixing equal parts C-11 Mixing Clear and C-60 Marigold. It’s perfect for pairing with underglazes, like V-361 Jet Black, used here to paint the flowers. The inside of the cup is Marigold alone, to show how the mixture on the outside is much lighter. A-Mix White Stoneware, fired to cone 5.
Coral Pink
Satin Mattes are also mixable! To create this warm pink, we mixed 4 parts SM-11 White with 1 part SM-51 Red. It was fired to cone 5 on A-Mix White Stoneware.
You can see the colorants in Red are very strong, so use less than you might expect.
Bluebells
A serene blue rounds out our palette of Spring colors. So dreamy and calm! We applied 2 coats of PC-20 Blue Rutile over 2 coats of PCF-21 Ocean Breeze to this A-Mix White Stoneware cup and fired it to cone 6.

Happy glazing!
